An article by an Analysys software engineering consultancy suggests that the next major job offer will arrive soon.
Analysies research shows that only a minority of people start a new career as a full-time job offer comes in the next 12 months.
A majority start within two years.
The company’s chief executive, Dr Ian Walker, said that the number of full-year jobs available had fallen by 12 per cent to about 1.4 million.
He said the numbers of full time positions had fallen, from 4.1 million to 3.6 million.
An analyst at Goldman Sachs said that a new company was unlikely to have a better job offer within 12 months than a similar job offer from a previous company.
“A new company would need to be doing much better than the incumbents in order to get a job offer,” Mr Walker said.
It is understood that the new company is being set up by the former chair of Analyss, Chris O’Brien, a former director of its UK office.
Mr Walker said that job offers had come in to the firm at rates of 15 per cent a year since 2015.
More to come.
